During the 1994 season Benetton removed a fuel filter from the refueling rig used through pit stops. This may have triggered a fire that occurred during Jos Verstappen's primary pitstop at Hockenheim. This resulted in further inquiries by the FIA, during which, the refuelling rig manufacturer clarified that in their opinion the modification could have resulted in 10% higher flow rates versus rules allowed[citation needed].
